“That Moment When…”

We’re raising £15,000 to provide festive holiday hampers to families in need from our local community over the seasonal period.

Christmas is about bringing people together, but not everyone can afford all the things we love most about the festive season.

Here at BADU Community, we support young people and their families through sporting and mentoring programmes that empower people and bring communities together. And we’re putting together festive hampers for families in east London experiencing food poverty for an extra-special seasonal outreach programme.

HAMPER BUILDING DAY: 13th December 2019

With all your kind contribution, we will spend the day creating these personalised hampers for families.  If you would like to volunteer in building hampers.

Although we desperately wanted to support all of these families, our panel selected 70 families that we were able to provide with hampers.

With the support from Here East, the Plexal innovation centre and the generosity of local businesses, we managed to raise almost £7,000. Companies within the local community organised carol singing, cake sales and clothes sales, while individuals supported with their own JustGiving pages.

Thanks for your support

Last Years Event

We set out to raise £5,000 to put towards festive holiday hampers for around 50 families in need from our local community over the seasonal period.

The criteria was that the child or family was on free school meals or had challenging family circumstances. Working in conjunction with local schools to identify those who would benefit, we had an overwhelming response from 82 families who needed support.

We were overwhelmed with the support shown which helped us to provide:

What Halley House school said:

“Thank you so very much I know the families will be very appreciative of BADU’s kindness.”

“I’ve spoken with each of the families and know they are both very appreciative.”

“Thank you very much for putting that extra smile on these families faces.”

What parents said:

“At this difficult time in my life, it’s so nice to feel appreciated.”

“People who are kind are actually the richest, because they are giving away kindness –something that can never be taken or stolen.”

“Thanks for not giving up on me.”
